To be here, we have finished the preliminary thickness design. Now we have obtained preliminary pavement thickness from Phase 3, then we calculate the tensile strain here and the maximum shear stress here. Based on the calculated results, we do material design and tests, including the fatigue test and shear resistance test, and compare whether the test results meet the requirement of loads and environment. We will do 2 examinations, i.e. shear examination and fatigue examination. In Phase IV, the transfer method or transfer function from lab to real pavement is a very critical step. * First examination is shear examination of mixture for wearing course and binder course to control rutting. This graph is from the in-situ pavement survey. The horizontal axle is the transverse location of pavement, this curve means the pavement deformation, and this curve is the shear strength section of mixture. It can be seen that the shape of two sections are very similar. It indicates the rutting depth has a significant correlation with the shear strength of the mixture. So, the shear strength of the mixture should be controlled for the rutting control. In order to control the mixture shear strength, we should know how the shear strength influence the rutting evolution, we need to develop a shear-based rutting prediction model. Different pavement structure combinations will have different shear stress distribution, which will induce different deformation in different depth of structure. This is the pavement temperature distribution, which will influence the shear resistance of mixture at different depth, this distribution plus the shear stress distribution together, will make the r
