APPLLO AND DAPHNE DO YOU? Do you remember the song “laurel goddess” sung by SHE? Do you know the laurel tree which usually related with the love? And, did you ever seen the famous sculpture? Apollo阿波罗: As we all know, Apollo is the most widely admired god among the Olympian gods. He is the son of Zeus(宙斯) and Leto（勒托）. He is the god of sun and the god of music and poetry. As Apollo is an energetic and handsome man, he is welcomed and beloved by many beautiful goddesses. But the love story between Apollo and Daphne is a very appealing and attractive one. Daphne达芙妮:（Daphne means Laurel in Greek.） Daphne is a lovely blooming fairy maiden. She is the daughter of the river god Peneus(帕尼尔斯). Eros艾罗斯: The love story between them may be considered as a tragedy. And the culprit is Eros, the god of love, who is better known by his Latin name--- Cupid（丘比特）. One day ,the little Eros ,sat on the bank of the river, playing with his bow and arrows . The arrows were very tiny, some had points of gold ,and others has points of lead(铅). At that time, Apollo saw him and said, What have you to do with warlike weapons, saucy boy? Leave them for hands worthy of them. and feeling very proud of his victory. Eros was very angry with Apollo, so he decided to revenge(V.报复) Apollo. Eros wounds Apollo with a golden arrow, which caused Apollo to fall in love with Daphne. Then , Eros additionally wounds Daphne with a leaden arrow, thus insuring she would not be wooed by Apollos advances. Apollo loves Daphne and pleads with Daphne to fulfill his desire. Daphne begins to flee. And Apollo grows impatient and soon, sped by Eros, gains on her. With slower speed and failing strength, Daphne cries out to her father just as Apollo captures her. Not a moment later, Daphnes skin turns to bark, her hair leaves, her arms branches, her feet roots, and her face a treetop.
