Cyber Bullying Definition Cyberbullying is the act of harming or harassing via information technology networks in a repeated and deliberate manner. According to U.S. Legal Definitions, cyber-bullying could be limited to posting rumors or gossips about a person in the internet bringing about hatred in others minds; or it may go to the extent of personally identifying victims and publishing materials severely defaming and humiliating them. Cyberstalking Anonymity Exclusion Outing Flaming Harassment In many cases, teenagers who dont have mobile phone are excluded from the group of teenagers who do. Outing is the public display or forwarding of personal communications such as text messages, emails or instant messaging. Flaming is an intense argument, that normally takes place in chat rooms, over instant messages or email. Harassment involves bullies sending offensive messages targeted at an individual or group. Cyberstalking is a form of harassment.Normally messages are sent through personal communications, such as email or text messages. Anonymity is when someone makes threatening comments to you, but is able to hide who they are. This means that it can be hard for you to figure out who sent you a threatening message or email. Forms of CyberBullying Technologies Used Cyberbullying can come through many types of technology, including: Emails Instant messages sent over the Internet Chat rooms, where teens talk to each other online Text messages sent to a teens cell phone Web sites Blogs, or web logs, which are public online journals Cause Cyber bullying can be based on hate or bias. Bullying others because of race, religion, physical appearance. Lack of awareness and education. Students might think that cyber bullying is entertaining or a game to hurt other people. Most students feel that if they are bullying someone online it does not have the same effect as it does if it was face to face. It actually feels the same as if you were bullying someone
