Over time, Athamus deserted Nephele and married another woman, who bore him two sons. Ino grew jealous of her husband’s ex-wife and had devised a plan to kill Nephele’s children. When Nephele heard of the plot to kill her children, she begged the Zeus to save them. Zeus sent the Ram with a Golden Fleece to flew them east across the sea. Unfortunately, when in flight, the daughter lost her grip and fell into the sea and drowned.
