R. China) Abstract: We prove, in this article, that every stably invertible matrix is similar to the product of two cyclic matrices. Furthermore, we represent a stably invertible matrix as the product of a diagonal matrix and some commutators. A companion matrix is the n by n matrix over R with ones along the line just below and parallel to the main diagonal, the elements c1, · · · , cn ∈ R as the entries of the last column, and zeros elsewhere. It is well known that a matrix A is a cyclic matrix if and only if it is similar to a companion matrix[8]. A non-unital ring R has stable rank one provided that (1 + a)R + bR = R with a, b ∈ R =⇒ ∃y ∈ R such that 1 + a + by ∈ R is invertible, where R is a unital extension of R . It is well known that a non-unital ring R having stable rank one doesn’t depend on the choice of its unital extension[8, Theorem 3.6] .
