L/O/G/O If English should be canceled in the college entrance examination My opinion is: Cancellation is ridiculous Reasons made by people who agree to cancel: 1.English is overvalued today. 2.Many students learn it just for exam, after that they still don’t know how to use it to communicate. 3.Many people don’t use English any more after they graduate from college. To the first reason, I want to say English is valued today not overvalued. The reason why parents ask their children to study it from kindergarten is they know the importance of English in this globalization world, rather than the English examination. To the second reason, even though many students don’t transform English into their own communication tools, they learned it, better than understanding nothing or little thing. Maybe somebody would say, we just talk about cancelling the exam, not the English learning. But do you think in China’s special education environment, school will pay attention to a subject which doesn’t exist in the college entrance examination? Students will have time to learn it? Some one may would do, but I’m sure the number of them can’t feed the needs of college learning and language talents. I can predict that if we cancelled English in the exam, most of students wouldn’t learn it hard any more, so it will make a blank window in 3 years high school life. and when they enter the college, facing the English learning or English academic books, they can only use F word to describe their feelings. To the third one, someone who say these words must learn Chinese literature or they are the man whose English is bad, so it’s impossible for them to touch works finished by English. Even in China, many jobs with high salary and high reputation need a good English level. In the end I want to say I’m glad to see that after I work for 3 or 4 years the new employees with poor English come to the company, so that me, a man with a little poor English can have more chance to get promoted.
