Abs tract: W ith especially h igh singlew ave peak, large w ave steepness, and typical characteristic of em erging sud-
denly, as a k ind of ocean d isaster, roguew aves still can not be explained or forecasted perfectly. This phenomenon
has been paidmore attention to by the people interested in sea and ocean all over theworld, for its appalling danger
and mi passible forecast recently and its increasing trend induced by some reasons. The d isastrous rogue w ave and
its danger are presented here at first. And then, from the definition of roguew ave, research methods, some corre-
spond ing conclusions and the understanding of this phenomenon is depicted. The purpose of th is paper is providing
some train of through for the peop le interested in th is field.
