Some Discussion on the Character of a Painting and the Quality of an Artist Abstract That “The character of a painting is the quality of an artist” is and important aesthetic concept in the Chinese painting theory. A art work is the crystallization of an artist’s wisdom. Its art value must reflect and be restricted by the though of the artist’s accomplishment. It is reasonable that the good quality of an artist has a good character of a painting. And it has active significance to improve the thought of an artist’s accomplishment and develop the good quality of an artist. But the character of a painting and the quality of an artist belong to two different categories. Their connotations are different and their relations are complex.. In the painting history. artists paid more attention to their unification and unity and neglected their differences. The article tries to explore the science meanings and relations between the character of a painting and the quality of an artist from the concept and the evolution of the connotation of the quality of an artist and the character of a painting in history and how to understand their relations. The article is divided into five parts. The first is introduction. The second explores the quality of an artist. The third explores the character of a painting. The forth studies the relations between the character of a painting and the quality of an artist. And the fifth is the conclusion that explains that there are relations between the two, but the relations are complex.
