Sexing Male－Greater anogenital distance than females－Larger genital papilla (rat, mice)－Pointed genital papilla with a round opening (hamster)－Scrotal pouches lateral to the genital-anal line(GP)－A rounded, protruding penile sheath with a round urethral opening (rabbit) Female－Shorter anogenital distance than males－Y shaped genital-anal opening (GP)－Elongated vulva with a slit opening (rabbit)－Conspicuous nipples Sexing Sexing Animal Identification Cage card Tattooing Ear tags Ear punching Implantable microchips-dog , cat Toe clipping Fur coloring-picric acid Ring-chicken Animal Identification 打耳號(ear punch)：適用於動物標記、記錄用，以大鼠為例。準備材料：丟棄式橡皮手套、耳號器。步驟：1.固定大鼠。2.置耳號器於耳部。3.又快既準地打下，可避免耳號打得不完整。 動　物　資　源　色　彩　記　號　系　統( Animal resources color code system ) 一般可用4種不同顏色的卡片標示出須特別注意的動物： 1. 紅色卡：標示生病動物　當工作人員發現動物生病或需獸醫師注意的動物，則由工作人員填寫動物處理報告表，並放一張紅色卡在該籠記錄卡上，若情況危急則應立即告知動物健康技術員(AHT)或將表格交給動物健康技術員。若動物未受檢查，而紅色卡在24小時內移除的話，工作人員應填第二張處理表格，同時尋求動物健康技術員或獸醫師協助。 2. 黃色卡：標示須觀察的動物 　　當獸醫師已檢查過該動物，不須治療，但須密切注意的動物，則以黃色卡標示，動物健康技術員與工作人員須每天觀察這些動物，直到獸醫師判定動物已恢復健康，不再需要特別觀察才可將黃色卡移除。 3. 藍色卡：標示治療中的動物 　　直到獸醫師認為該動物不需再接受治療，才可移除。 4. 綠色卡：標示須犧牲的動物 　　動物將被工作人員犧牲掉之前，應以綠色卡標示，此外，應由研究人員或其代理人填妥犧牲表格交給動物健康技術員，或工作人員應通知動物健康技術員。 Drug administration Solution diluted before injection　－e.g. pentobarbital diluted with 0.9% saline Smallest gauge
