Abstract Objective: To invest igate t e effects of Danxian Kanggu( DXKG) capsules extracted from C i
nese drugs on t e vascular endot elial growt factor expression during t e repair of avascular necrosis of
femoral ead and explore t e mec anism of antiosteonecrosis of DXKG capsules. Methods: T e model of avas
cular necrosis of femoral ead was producted by operation on rabbits femoral neck. VEGFmRNA expression
w ere measured by bot RTPCR and immuno istoc emistry. Histological study and microvascular perfusion
w ere used for examination of osteogenisis and angiogenisis. Results: Compared w it model group, DXKG group
s ow ed follow c anges obviously: vascular endot elial growt factor expression significantly increased; Area
dyed by ink increased; Numbers of empty bone lacuna decreased; Fibroblasts multiplicated in t e margin of
marrow; Osteoblasts multiplicated around t e necrosis of trabecula. Conclusion:T e anti osteonecrosis effect of
DXKG capsule may be passing t roug its increasable effect on vascular endot elial growt factor expression
and production in osteoblats.
