2017 美术中文夏令营2017 Art and Mandarin - Asian Arts Studio
2017
2017 Art and Mandarin Summer Camp
for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade
AAS Art and Mandarin Summer Camp is designed for children entering kindergarten through 5th grade. We teach art with the
intention of ultimately bringing the students to a professional level. We also work to maintain or improve the students
language skills in Mandarin and enhance their knowledge of Chinese culture through age-appropriate play-based classes
and activities.
In summer 2017, Asian Arts School celebrates its eighth year of partnership with the Confucius Institute at San Francisco
State University. Mandarin teachers selected from the institute will join our dynamic summer camp staff and use their
expertise to teach speaking, reading and writing in Mandarin. Throughout the weeks, special guests such as dancing, drama,
martial arts experts and award-winning young artists will be invited to intensify the camp experience and inspire our students.
The camp consists of 10 one-week sessions that begin May 30th and end August 4th The basic program is from 8:30 am to
3:00 pm with extended-care options that run from 7:30 to 8:30 am and from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.
Our summer camp students will have very full days: The students will draw and paint, practice reading and writing
Chinese, sing Mandarin songs and learn folk dances. Furthermore, students who have advanced skills in art or Mandarin
will be eligible for supplemental instruction according to their levels of proficiency.
During our late afternoon sessions, students will have the option to continue with the Afternoon Education Rainbow
Program here at the school or to practice Kung Fu with martial arts master Leo Wang of Panda Kungfu on Judah Street.
You will find their registration form in the link here: . Students in the Afternoon Education
Rainbow Program may indicate their choice on the original AAS day camp form.
