Davidenko, a Yuan Zui, b UDC 621.791.052.08:620.179.16 and Yukun Chi b We determine the parameters of acoustic emission that characterize different stages of the process of accumulation of damage, including the onset of the process of coalescence of pores and the initiation and growth of a macrocrack. It is shown that the process of initiation of a tensile macrocrack depends on the size of the stress concentrator, Le., on the type of stressed state, to a greater extent than on the number of cycles of mechanical loading. It is known that actual physical processes occurring in loaded materials are reflected in the complete stress-strain diagrams [1]. Therefore, it is very important to use data on the parameters of acoustic emission and regularities of the distribution of acoustic-emission (AE) signals obtained for small-size specimens in monitoring critical structural elements in the process of their operation to detect the stages of hardening or softening, embrittlement, and formation of defects.
