The quantity of inclusions in steel too more, the heating time of the slab in the heating furnace too longer, and the segregation of S in the center of the slab and so forth make the edge cracks worse further so that the torn selvedge of the hot rolling strips happen. For the sake of controlling the defects of the edge cracks effectively, the control lower limit of Mn content in the factory criterion is heighten, the cleanliness of steel is improved by reducing the S content and the inclusions content in steel, the technology of the heating furnace is optimized.
