A. , Bologna, Italy) [Abstract] The reinforced earth retain ing wallw ith double tw isted steelw iremesh and gabion is a new type of retain ing w allw hich reinforcement is wt isted steelw iremesh produced by factory and there is no joint bewt een facew all andw iremesh. Few examp les of its application in China can be found, its the- ory and design m ethod has gotten less advancem ent and can notmeet the engineering needs. The studies show that the stab ility of this structure is better than conventional reinforced earth retaining w all such as bar-reinforced and geogrid-reinforced retain ing w all and it is prop itious to be used in building high reta-i ning w all and retain ingw all used in high grade h ighw ay.
