Glossary Glossary of key terms Access The process followed by a researcher to obtain permission from the members, to enter a field study setting and to carry out the field observation. Basic research Research carried out to discover something simply for the sake of knowledge to improve our understanding of the world, and for academic rather than commercial purposes.
