The communicative motive of the translation of Stratigraphy and Geological History of Eastern Venezuela is to provide target readers geological information as a reference. Therefore, the translation strategy adopted is to give priority to information relevant to the target geologists, experts or investers interested in this field for their reference. There are three key types of information in Stratigraphy and Geological History of Eastern Venezuela needed to be translated in priority: geological knowledge, geographical location and stratigraphic structure. When geological knowledge are specific in geological literature, Chinese version can be borrowed from relevant literature to make sure the coherence; otherwise, if the geological knowledge are common words in daily life, it is better for translator to affirm the meaning of the word by distinguishing its usage characteristics to let readers
