The desiccation of deep soil layer related to vegetation rehabilitation on the Loess Plateau was reviewed , including its characteristics , types , quantitative indexes , contributing factors , distributions , harmfulness and countermeasures. Moreover , some problems and suggestions in the relevant researches were presented. Key words : 　the
