According to engineering examples, the determ ination for the predom inant period of a site is described, asw ell as its application in evaluation for the category of the site and soi,l and the effect of different site conditions on the characteristics of frequency spectrum are analyzed. The results are shown that there is a good resu lt for determ inating the predom inant period through groundm icrotremor testing, and the conclusion derived by the predom inant period in the evaluation of the site and soil is smi ilar to that by the equ ivalent shearw ave and the thickness of overburden layer. The rock and soil structure markly affect the frequency spectra of the ground m icrotremors, and the correspond ing relationsh ips be- tw een them are existed.
