论美国梦在《了不起的盖茨比》中的幻灭 摘 要 弗·司各特·菲茨杰拉德被公认为是美国20世纪最有影响力的作家之一，“爵士时代”的代言人。而其代表作《了不起的盖茨比》自1925年在美国首次出版以来广受好评。从表面上它仅仅是在当时社会背景下发生的一个爱情悲剧，而实际上当读者进一步深入小说的内容时就可以体会到这些年来美国社会各个方面发生的改变，这部小说的内容犹如一幅细化了的社会实景图。《了不起的盖茨比》描写的是盖茨比为了得到昔日情人戴西从而不顾一切追求金钱，最终导致幻灭的结局。本文旨在通过以美国梦为线索，描写美国梦的起源与发展；分析《了不起的盖茨比》中的人物特征及他们各自心中所追求的“美国梦”及其幻灭和幻灭的影响。同时，本文将与当代中国的社会环境作出比较，使生活在物质社会高度发展的今天的人们树立正确、积极、健康的人生观、价值观。 关键词：美国梦，幻灭，《了不起的盖茨比》 The Disillusion of American Dream in The Great Gatsby ABSTRACT F · Scott Fitzgerald is recognized as one of the most influential American writers in the 20th century, the spokesman of the “Jazz Age”. And his masterpiece, The Great Gatsby, published in America in 1925 for the first time, is popular. From the surface, it is just a love tragedy story, occurred in the prevailing social context. In fact, when the reader has a further understanding about the novel, you can appreciate the change in all aspects of American society at that time and the novel likes a refinement social situation. The Great Gatsby described Gatsby who exhausted all means to pursue of fame and money to get his old lover Daisy, ending with the disillusion. This paper will take the American Dream as a clue, expositing the origin and development of the American Dream. Then the paper will analyze the disillusion of different characters’ American Dreams in The Great Gatsby and analyze the reasons and impacts of their disillusion. At the same time the paper will make a comparison with contemporary China’s social environment to make the people who live in today’s highly developed material society establish a correct, positive, healthy outlook on life and world outlook.
