K ey Laboratory of B ionic E ngineer ing, M inistry of Education, J ilin University, Changchun 130025, China ) Abstract The algorithm ofautomatic grid recognition for irregular fieldswas introduced based on the algorithm of autom atic grid recognition for regular fields. The controller received pulse signals from the sensor and calculated the working distance of the variable rate applicator, thus the working grid could be identified by the algorithm of automatic grid recognition. The field experimental results showed that using this positioning algorithm, the applicator could be automatically recognized in different grid.
