Healthy SleepIn peoples life, one third of the time is spent in sleep.Withoutnormal sleep, we cannot sustain other life activities. Sleep can refresh our minds and improve memory ability.Ensuring adequate sleep time and sleeping efficientlyis vital for learning and working.We sleep every day, but rarely think deeply about it. Sleep can be divided into two periods: rapid-eye-movement sleep (REM sleep) and non-rapid eye movement sleep (non-rem sleep). The former can protect the brain, relieve emotions and restore energy, while the latter can eliminate fatigue, restore physical strength, enhance immunity, recovery body capacity and promote growth and development.What sleep can bring us? Perhaps the answer is not very clear.However, if we put this question in turn, what if we do not sleep well, then the answer can be surprisingly obvious, or maybe not obvious but surprising.Today, people are faced with a variety of pressures in life.Students must complete their studies; workers have to complete their work, so sometimes people have to stay up late. All these can take up sleep time.The resultsdo harm to our health severely and may even threat the safety of others.Studies showthat lack of sleep can damage our attention, alertness, concentration of mind, reasoning and problem-solving abilities, which easily lead to injuries and accidents.Furthermore, sleep debt can increase the risk of many diseases. For instance, among insomniacs, the morbidity of heart disease, hypertension, stroke, diabetes and etc.is higher than normal people. In addition, lack of sleep and sleep disorders can also lead to depression, cutis laxa(the skin relaxation) and pachulosis(rough skin). Interestingly, lack of sleep can enhance peoples sense of hunger. Data show that people sleep less than five hours a dayare moreclosely related with obesity even the risk of death. And both American and Chinese official data show that fatigue driving caused by sleep deprivation has been a global road safety proble
