But few researchers paid attention to the sand liquefaction under vertical cyclic loadin . Jiaox in railw ay is a h i h seism ic intensity area after the ali nmentDK39+ 000. From the ali nmentDK283 + 550 to the ali nment DK283 + 770, there are seism ic liquefaction sand layers. It is h i hly possible to induce sand liquefaction by the dynam ic loadin ofmovin trains. In order to study the sub rade settlemen t characteristics before and after the comm encement of the raiwl ay, this paper exam ines the concepts of sand liquefaction and the criter ion of liquefaction at first. The paper further analyzes in details the settlement features of the sub rades in the sand liquefaction area. The analyses include the vertical settlem ent behaviors of sand layers and lateral d isplace ment behavior. Finally, based on the test results, a constitutivemodel for the behavior of the sand under the condi tion of cyclic load in is put forw ard.
