oracle组合索引使用详解（Oracle explain the use of the composite index） Detailed usage of composite index in Oracle In Oracle, a composite index can be created, that is, an index containing two or more columns at the same time as two. In terms of the use of composite indexes, Oracle has the following characteristics: 1, when a rule based optimizer (RBO) is used, the index is used only when the leading column of the composite index appears in the where clause of the SQL statement; 2, before using Oracle9i based on the cost of the optimizer (CBO), only when the combination index of the leading column appears in the where clause in the SQL statement, it may be of use to the index, using the index depending on the calculation of the cost and the optimizer uses a full table scan into this, Oracle will automatically select the access path of low cost (see the following test 1 and test 2); 3, from Oracle9i, Oracle introduces a new index scan called index skip scan (CBO), a scan that is only cost based. So, when the where clause of the SQL statement in the preamble even without the combined index, and the index skip scan cost less than the cost of other scanning mode, Oracle will use the way of scanning the composite index (see the following test 3); 4, the Oracle optimizer can sometimes make the wrong choice, because it is more smart, as we SQL writing staff more clear distribution table data, in this case, by using the tip (hint), we can help the Oracle optimizer to make better choices (see the following test 4).
