Of Intelligent Information on Processing Department of Computer Science and Engineering Fudan University, Shanghai 200433, China jpzhang@ Abstract: With the ever-increasing concern on the social security and antiterrorism, biometric authentication techniques attract broad attention by researchers and engineers. Among them, gait recognition which has remarkable advantages in remote surveillance, begin to be in-depth studied in recent years. However, gait recognition hasn’t been developed a practical algorithm or even the academic framework yet because many challenging problems need be tackled, which mostly concentrate on feature extraction. For better understanding pros and cons of gait recognition, we will give a survey from the aspect of feature extraction in the paper.
