Abstract: Viral nervous ne rosis ( VNN) is a worldwide disease among teleost fish. In the mainland of China, VNN was first
identified in 2 spe ies of hat hery-reared groupers, Epinep helus akaara and E . coioides. In the present study , samples were olle ted
from larvae of E . akaara w ith signs of VNN in Dayawan bay whi h is lo ated in southern China. The omplete viral oat protein
gene was amplified using extra ted total RNA as template. The reverse trans ription polymerase hain rea tion ( RT-PCR)
amplifi ation was performed using primers ontaining a heterologous restri tion site for NotI. PCR produ ts were loned into p DNA3
ve tor and sequen ed. The results indi ated that the oat protein gene of Dayawan isolate ( RG-CN) was 1056 bases in length and
ontained a single open reading frame ( ORF) of
