I grew up in a small town called Strabane in the north-west of Ireland and lived in Ireland and England for over twenty four years. I graduated from the University of Ulster with a Honours degree in English and a Masters degree in Language and Linguistics. Besides, I also attained a certificate in Education from Newcastle University. Why I became a teacher? When I was studying for my Masters and doing some tutoring, I began to have a new level of respect for teachers as I finally understood what it meant to be a teacher. The more I taught, the more I loved my job. I found that a teacher’s role is not just about what happens in the classroom. Instead, a teacher can be a role-model for students in all aspects of life. The opportunity to have a positive influence on someone’s life is my greatest motivation. Outside of school I am a self-confessed sports-maniac, who rarely goes a day without thinking about sports. My favourite football team is Chelsea FC and I love watching tennis. I enjoy doing other physical activities like running, playing netball, hockey and going to the gym.
