The research method of using Utermann and the modified Guo method of 40 nondiabetic controls and 176 patients with type 2 diabetes apo (a) genotyping, and to observe the relationship between the concentration of Lp (a) and microvascular and macrovascular complications, including retinopathy, nephropathy, neuropathy, hypertension, coronary heart disease, cerebral infarction. Results the frequencies of apo, S4 and S4S2 in 40 non-diabetic controls were 20%, 70% and 10%, respectively. The serum Lp (a) level was (0.08 + 0.07) mg/L in S3S2 (a). The frequencies of S2, S3, S3S2, S4, S4S2 and S4S3 in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were 18.18%, 17.05%, 34.09%, 4.55% and 5.68%, respectively. The concentration of Lp (a) was (0.13 + 0.11) mg/L, which was significantly higher than that of non diabetic controls (20.45%). Compared with diabetic patients without complications, there was significant difference in apo (a) typing frequency among patients with diabetes mellitus, retinopathy, kidney disease, neuropathy, hypertension, coronary heart disease and cerebral infarction. Compared with patients with S2 genotype, fasting glucose, postprandial 2 h blood glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin levels were significantly lower in patients with S4 phenotype.
