Answer: xDSL Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) abbreviation, digital subscriber line, is a copper telephone line for point to point transmission technology of transmission medium. Different kinds of digital subscriber line technology, mainly in the transmission rate and distance signal. XDSL technology is divided into symmetric and asymmetric two categories. Symmetric DSL technology is mainly used to replace T1/E1 traditional access technologies. Compared with the traditional T1/E1 access, DSL technology has the requirement of line of low quality, easy installation, widely used in communication, campus network interconnection and other fields, the multiplexing technology can transmit multi-channel voice, video and data at the same time. Asymmetric DSL technology is very suitable for the application of bidirectional bandwidth is not the same, such as Web browsing, multimedia on demand and the release of information, so it is suitable for Internet access, VOD system etc.. Symmetric DSL technology mainly includes: HDSL (High-bit-rate DSL), SDSL (Single line DSL), IDSL (ISDN digital subscriber line) etc..
