Compared w ith ecological services of natural ecosystem s, ecolog ical service of agricultural system was divided into wt o functional categories: one from natural regulation and the other from human regulation. During the ecological service assessment, the types of ecological services and differences bewt een regions, aswell asm aterialized and non-materialized index, static and dynam ic index, index influ- enced by quantity and system structure, index indication process and end result, and positive and negative influences should be taken into account. For correct assessments, the definition of eco logical service, scope of assessmen,t index chosen, and the direct measurement approach were proposed.
