Agricultural products coordinated replenishment of small and
medium supermarket under the concept of fresh radius

Abstract: Supermarkets have low profit even no profit on managing fresh agricultural products in China. The big
supermarkets boost profits first by using “agricultural super-docking”, while large number of small and medium
supermarkets closely related with city citizen’s life compete with large supermarkets difficultly for they run in traditional
way because of their smaller scale and less capital. Introducing the concept of fresh radius based on the theory of joint
procurement, this paper analyzes the condition of the small and medium supermarket joint procurement combining with
Losch’s market location theory, and come to a conclusion that the small and medium supermarkets can improve
competitiveness by using joint procurement.
