Learn the sentence pattern “ What would you do if .. did…?” and give replies. Period 1 Step 1 Lead-in Show a picture of a million dollars, and let Ss think about what they would do if they had such amount of money. Then introduce them some new words and phrases with the help of some pictures. 1a .Talking about imaginary situations What would you do if you had a lot of money? If I had a lot of money, I would give it to charity. If I had a lot of money, I would buy snacks. If I had a lot of money, I would give it to Hope Project. If I had a lot of money, I would buy books for the poor. Step 2 Listening and numbering 1b. Now listen again and write down the sentences with Second conditional and Should for advice Step 3 Pairwork Work in pairs and make a similar dialogue like the example. What would you do if you had a million dollars? I’d give it to the charity. Step 4 Listening and circling 2a. Listen to the tape and circle the reasons in the box on page 27 why Larry is nervous. 2b. Listening and checking Listen to the tape again and check on page 27 the four things Larry’s sister says to him. Step 5 Pairwork Work in pairs, one student pretend to be Larry, the other is her sister, make a conversation according to the listening material. Step 6 Reading and matching 3a. Read the six short passages and match each problem with the correct advice. Step 7 Thinking and role playing 3b. Next you are going to think of different advice for the problems in activity 3a. Role play conversations with your partner. Step 8 Group work Students work in groups and talk about their own problems both at school and home, and try to give each other advice by using the imaginary situation.
