And restoring vegetation and imp roving soil quality is among u rgent affairs of the region. It is very important to exp lore the effects of different succe ssion stage s on soil quality for the re storation and m anagem ent of karst degraded mountain. In th is study, three succe ssion stage s in karst degraded mountain were selected at the B aim iao Mountain in B eibei of Chongqing. The three succe ssion stages are gra ss stage, bru sh stage and fore st stage. The p ap er reported the respon ses of 15 indicators including the ShannonW iener index, soil physical and chem ical p rop erties to the three succe ssion stages.
