The seism ic responses of pipeline are analyzed by the nonlinear contact problem method. Som e influential factors on the responses of buried pipeline w ere stud ied by num erical calculation, such as the displacements of active fau lt, the angles bewt een p ipeline and fault, the forms of faultmovement, the burying depth of p ipeline, the initial axial force on p ipeline, the w idth of the lap, the ratio of diameter to thickness of pipeline, and som e conclusions are draw n.
