This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution International License (CC BY). /licenses/by/4.0/ Open Access Abstract The condensation of hydrazide with benzylideneacetophenone was studied by using phospho- tungstic acid as catalyst. After a series of reaction conditions, the optimal reaction conditions were established, and the universality of the substrate was investigated. A series of acylhydrazones were obtained with the high yields, up to 99%. The reaction was simple and mild, which provided a new method for the synthesis of chalcone hydrazone.
