Soka Gakkai International NGO Activity Report The Soka Gakkai International (SGI) is a worldwide association of 82 constituent organizations with memberships in 192 countries and territories. Based on the life-affirming philosophy of Nichiren Buddhism, SGI members aim to develop positive human potentialities for hope, courage and altruistic action. As a non-governmental organization (NGO) working with the United Nations, the SGI has been active in public education with a focus on peace and disarmament, human rights and sustainable development as well as providing humanitarian assistance and promoting interfaith dialogue and cooperation.
