The shoulder consists of 3 bones: the upper arm (humerus), the shoulder blade and the clavicle. The shoulder joint is a ball - socket joint: the upper arms ball, or the head and shoulder bones nest match. The rotator cuff is the structure that maintains the right arm position in the glenoid fossa. The rotator cuff consists of 4 parts, all of which become tendinous parts at the distal end of the rotator cuff and are attached to the humeral head (Fig. 1). Under the action of the rotator cuff, the shoulder joint can be raised and rotated. A lubricating tissue (bursa) is present between the rotator cuff and the shoulder bone (shoulder), allowing the rotator cuff to move freely when the shoulder joint is active. When rotator cuff injuries occur, the bursa can produce inflammation and cause pain. Fig. 1 anatomical sketch of rotator cuff Pathogeny There are two main causes of rotator cuff tears: injury and degeneration. In many cases, two factors exist simultaneously, causing common diseases. I. injury: if the arm straightens, falls or lifts the weight very quickly, it may lead to rotator cuff tears. This injury may be accompanied by other shoulder injuries such as shoulder dislocation.
