Step2 Warming up In order to draw the students’ interest , ask them to draw some pictures which express emoticons on the Internet. Then show the students the following pictures: Step3 Discussion Ask the students to look at the illustrations carefully. And then answer the questions. Pictures 1 Use these pictures to make the students know about different foreign languages. Ask the students to discuss the following questions.Do you recongize all the languages on the cards?Which other languages do you want to learn, English, Japanese ,Russion or French? Why? : - ( : ( : - | smiley face sad face crying face Qusetions: Do you think it is a form of language? Where can we see it and when do we use it? What does each emoticon stand for? What other emoticons do you use? disappointed face Pictures 2 Questions : 1.What does this sign mean in Britain? 2.What do you think is needed to use sign language? 3.Do you know other sign language? Pictures 3 Ask some students to act out some other sign language. Then show the students some more sign languages : give two more examples house nurse Louis Braille was born in 1809 in France. When he was young, he had an accident. Then he became blind. It was he who invented Braille. Pictures 4 Use these pictues to introduce Braille Braille is the system of six raised dots created in 1821 by Louis Braille.It’s the only way through hich the blind can learn to read and write. Question:Who is this kind of language invented for? Picture 5 Use this picture to introduce animals’language. Questions 1.Why do bbuttflies fly in circles? 2.Do you believe there exists animal language? 3.What other animal languages do you know? Step 4 Discussion In order to make eveyone work in class, divide the class into four groups to discuss the following questions to prepare for the text which we’ll learn tomorrow.
