Lived? 1.1 Company Logo 杨朱与孟子为同时代人。百家争鸣事实上出现在孟子在世的时代。那时在齐国的国都设立了稷下学宫，容纳了数千学者。他们的作品已经遗失，人们通过引文片段而知道他们的存在。孟子可能就是稷下学宫的一名学者，而杨朱和墨子则是他的主要对手。这两名对手在当时都很有名。因此当时的学者为了他们的学说生存下来而不得不辩。 Company Logo Yang Chu was the contemporary of Mencius (371-289 B.C.?) . One hundred schools were actually appearing in the time of Mencius, when Chi-Hsia school was establish at the capital of Ch’i. Several thousand scholars were hosted. Their works are lost, and we know them by fragmentary quotations. Mencius was probably a scholar of Chi-Hsia, Yang Chu and Mo Tsu were his main opponents, both of which were very popular at that time. So they had to debate for the survival of their doctrines.
