College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering,Taiyuan University of Technology,Taiyuan 030024,China) Abstract:摇 Hollow carbon microspheres, several micrometers in diameter,were prepared from solid carbon micro鄄 spheresbya simpleoxidation鄄in鄄airprocess. Themorphologyandstructureoftheseproductswerecharacterizedbyfield鄄 emission scanning electron microscopy, high鄄resolution transmission electron microscopy, X鄄ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy,and thermogravimetry. Resultsindicatethatheattreatmenttemperatureinairplaysakeyroleintheevolu鄄 tion of the cavity size and wall thickness of the hollow carbon microspheres with poor graphitization,and high heating temperature leadstoathinwallthicknessandlargeinnerdiameter. Aproposedformationmechanismrevealsthatthehol鄄 lowcarbonmicrospheresareformedasaresultoftheeffectofcurvatureandcrystallinity,i.e. theinnerpartofsolidcar鄄 bon microsphereshasa large curvature and a low crystallinity,which ismuch more easily oxid
