Abstract People’s demand for meat products is growing with the economy development and the continuous improvement of peoples living standard in China, the mass breeding is the dominant trend of the development of mutton sheep industry in the future. In this paper, the mixing device of mutton sheep’s fodder was designed, especially focuses on the parameters, to solve the problem such as low efficiency of labor intensity in artificial mixture, low mixing uniformity and feed waste serious problems in large-scale mutton sheep feeding. And a physical prototype device was built to carry the performance test and feeding test. (1) The overall concept of the self-propelled mixed mixer of mutton sheep feeding was decided, its structure was mainly composed of automobile powertrain, hydraulic system, mixing system and weighing system, etc. According to design ideas of shear, kneading and mixing function in the integration, the spiral drums were designed in two-way spiral, relative motion between spiral knife of blade edge and fixed knife in the middle beam formed shear plane, the mixing process of feed was completed. (2) The structure parameters and working parameters were optimized with mixing system of horizontal duplex axis. The parameters were designed such as the angle of container wall by 75 °, the wall thickness of stir dragon blade was 6 mm, spiral diameter was 380 mm, screw pitch was 300 mm, the spiral angle of dragon blade by 50 °, the gap of screw diameter at the top and semicircle at the bottom surface by 15 mm.
