Based on this principle, an analytical method was developed for the determination of clenbuterol in pork using solid phase extraction and fl ow injection chemiluminescence. Clenbuterol residue present in pork was extracted into ethyl acetate and cleaned up using a solid-phase extraction cartridge before analysis. The results indicated that the developed method was rapid and sensitive. The limit of detection was 0.026 μg/mL and the linear range was 0.05–1.0 μg/mL. The relative standard deviation (RSD) for 8 repeated determinations was 1.16%. The average recovery rate of clenbuterol in blank pork sample was 91.96%, which was comparable to the results obtained by GC-MS or HPLC.
