Abstract: The tetraethyl lead ( TEL) w as determ ined by HPLC w ith UV detector, extractant d ichlorometh
ane, mobile phasem ethanol/w ater m ixture ( liqu id volume fraction 955), column ZORBAX E clipse XDBC ,

detection w avelen th 280 nm. The results of the method show ed that ood linearity w as obtained in ran e from
0. 100 m /L to 1. 00 m /L, the low est detection concentration and the detection lmi it forTEL w ere 0. 01 /L
and 0. 04 /L, the RSD of w ater samp les in parallelw ith in 4. 2%, recoveries of surface w ater and w astew ater
from 78. 9% to 82. 4% and from 62. 4% to 107% respectively.
