Methods: 60 patients with type II diabetes mellitus were evaluated by SDS self rating depression scale and HAMD depression scale, and compared with 30 normal subjects. 60 patients with type II diabetes were assessed after three months of diabetes education and psychological intervention. Results: the SDS and HRSD scales in the diabetic group were significantly higher than those in the normal group. The symptoms of depression can be improved obviously after sugar, disease, education and psychological intervention, and the control of glucose metabolism is better. Conclusion: diabetic patients often suffer from depression, diabetes education and psychological intervention can improve glucose metabolism and depression symptoms.
