［Abstract］ The UG and Matlab software are selected as the platform for inlet port development ，the flow
characteristic of valve throat is analyzed by introducing an inlet port area utilization ratio function ，and the CAD sol-
id model of the inlet port is directly obtained by applying forward design method． Due to the forward design method
has more diversities of design options for cylinder head ，it provides more surplus adjustment space for the flow field
optimization of cooling water jacket in cylinder head and mechanical strength check．
