日治時期斗六街之人口成長與分布 1 2 周國屏 陳莉菁 1 建國科技大學通識教育中心 2 雲林縣立斗六國民中學 摘要 為探索一個農業大縣的地方中心長期人口成長的歷程與空間分布之差異，期 待能對台灣同類型市鎮聚落人口現象的變遷軌跡留下比對之基礎，本研究將先 以今日斗六市轄境為範圍，利用日治時期，自 1905 年第一次人口普查，開始有 連續性人口登記與調查資料定期公佈起，至 1941 年止，歷年出版之《台灣常住 人口統計》、《台灣現住戶口統計》等官書，所刊載當時境內14個街庄（或大字） 之人口統計資料，加以分析，展現其空間的差異性。初步分析的結果顯示：當時 人口係逐年漸增，年平均人口成長率為25.19‰ ，較同期全台人口成長率24.88‰ 稍高，且後期人口增幅遠大於前期；其中以斗六街區及相鄰各街庄人口成長相 對較快，邊陲各庄則較緩。人口分布向以斗六街居冠，全區三成的人口都聚集在 此，人口分布不均，益趨明顯；林仔頭與菜公人口一直最少，這種空間差異， 主要係受交通位置與產業機能之影響。 關鍵詞：斗六街、日治時期、人口成長、人口分布 Population Growth and Distribution of 1 2 1 2 1 Douliou Area During the Period of Japanese Colony 1 2 Kuo-Ping Chou Lih-Jing Chen 3Center of General Education, Chienkuo Technology University 4Douliou Junior High School Abstract The purpose of this article is to explore the process of the long-term population growth and the difference of the spatial distribution at the largest central place of a large agricultural county and to compare its population change with other areas of the same pattern in Taiwan during the period of Japanese colony with Doulioujie （斗六 街）as an example. （斗六街） With 14 villages under Doulioujie as study units from 1905 to 1941, the analysis indicated that the number of population grew increasingly year by year, and that the annual average of the rate of population growth was 25.19‰, while the annual average of the rate of population growth in Taiwan was 24.88‰.
