It is the national 211 Project key construction university established by the peoples Government of Jiangxi province and the Ministry of education. The school was founded in 1921 by the Jiangxi School of public medicine and the National Chung Cheng University, founded in 1940. In 1993, Jiangxi University merged with Jiangxi Industrial University to form Nanchang University. In 1997, the school was listed as the national 211 Project key construction university. In 2004, the Ministry of education and the Jiangxi Provincial Peoples government signed an agreement to build the Nanchang University. In 2005, Nanchang University and Jiangxi Medical College merged to form the new Nanchang University. After years of construction and development, reform, the school has initially formed a relatively complete talent training, discipline construction, independent innovation, social services and cultural innovation system, strengthening the connotation of development, enhance the strength of education and establish a competitive advantage, has become an important force to boost the regional and national economic and social development.
