A textual research on the chapter Yao copied on silk

Abstract: Wit reference to t e five kinds of interpretations of t e c apter Yao ( Essentials) on excavated silk
already publis ed and istorical facts, as well as wit certain rectifications and amendm ents, t is paper makes a
t oroug textual researc on t is c apter word by w ord. On t e basis of t is, t e paper divides t e w ole c ap-
ter into nine sections, w it eac section divided into t ree parts of / original text0 ,/ textual researc 0 , and / in-
terpretations0 . In addition, t is paper sets fort its view s on some related issues, pointing out t at t e original
subjects of t e two c apters named as Yi z hi y i ( Connotations of t e Yi ) and X i Ci w ere most probably nam ed
as Yi ( Connotations) and T ian z un ( Veneration of Heaven) ; Shang-sh u w as a common noun in t e pre-Qin
Period and became a special noun after Fu s eng, a famous sc olar in t e earlier Han Dynasty; T ere most
probably ex isted no relations ip of origin betw een Yao copied on silk and X i Ci in current version , t ey mig t
s are t e same origin, or ad different foundations; and so on.
