Language focus:
Using verbs and verb phrases to indicate actions.
To ask wh-questions to find out particular information about a person.
To use the modal verb can to talk about ability.
Sports are good for your health.

Listening Recognizing action verbs and be able to respond with the corresponding actions
e.g. ride, play, skip, fly
Understanding the key pattern

Understanding specific information in response to questions

Speaking Pronouncing the words, phrases and sentences correctly
e.g. ride, play football
Using modeled phrases to open and maintain an interaction involving factual questions

Step Contents Methods Purpose
Pre-task preparations
1. Say a rhyme.
(On Student’s Book page 41.)
2. Ask and answer.
e.g.
What’s that?
What can you do?
Say the rhyme.
Ss: Answer.
While-task procedures
1. To learn: He can ….
a. Show a picture of a boy playing football.
T: He can play football.
T: What can he do?
b. Do pair works.
2. To learn: She can ….
a. Show a picture of a girl flying a kite.
T: She can fly a kite.
T: What can she do?
b. Do pair works.
3. Listen and say on Student’s Book page 38.
Ask some questions.
e.g.
T: Who can sing?
T: Yes, she can sing.

4. Show a rhyme:
Play, play, play football.

5. Ask and answer in groups of six.
6. Play a memory game.
e.g.

7. Do Workbook on Page 40.
8. Work in pairs on Student’s Book page 40.
