In the view of world communication giant Motorola, the importance of performance management is irreplaceable. Motorola on the performance management to make such a localization and expression: “ when all of us are the common goal for the whole team to work hard, and the self leadership way of service to our customers, Motorola will be successful. ” Connotation of performance management Motorolas definition of performance management is that performance management is a continuous process of communication in which employees and supervisors agree on the following issues in partnership: 1. work that employees should accomplish (organizational goals); 2. how does the work done by employees contribute to the achievement of organizational goals?; 3., whether there is a gap between the existing working ability of the staff and the objectives to be achieved, what is the gap (behavior goal)?; 4., through specific content description, determine how to do the work well; 5. how can employees and supervisors work together to help employees improve performance?; 6. how do you measure performance?; 7. identify barriers to performance and overcome them; 8. develop short-term goals and long-term goals for employee career development. From this not trivial definition, we can see the status of performance management in Motorola. Motorolas performance management is not a one-off assessment, but a process of continuous improvement. In this process, through the continuous communication and practice between managers and employees, each employee can achieve his own set goals. Performance management is concerned with the improvement of employee performance, and the improvement of employee performance is for the realization of organizational goals.
