Unit 5 Music Reading: The Band That Wasn’t 阅读课学案 学习目标: 1. To learn and practice the vocabulary relating to music and forming a band. 2. To practice using the reading strategies to solve the problems. 3. To develop logical thinking by participating in the re retelling and role play. I. Read the passage quickly and match each paragraph with its main idea: Para 1 A. Many people want to be famous as singers or musicians. Para 2 B. How the Monkees became popular and how they developed as a real band. Para 3 C. How people form a band. Para 4 D. The Monkees started in a different way. II. Read the second paragraph and put the following sentences in the correct order: 1. They hope to make records in a studio. 2. They may start as a group of high-school students. 3. They sell millions of copies to become millionaires. 4. Sometimes they may play to passers-by in the street or subway to earn some extra money. 5. Later they may give performances in pubs or clubs. 6. They may first practise music in someone’s house. III. Read the 3rd 4th paragraphs and answer the questions by filling in the blanks. IV. Retell how the Monkees started and developed into a real band based on the notes above: V. Discussion: What do you think of “the Monkees”?
